    We are recruiting a Graduate Program Advisor, under direction of the Associate Director, who is responsible for serving as a senior level position providing services to masters and doctoral students in the College of Education, which includes recruiting and advising graduate students concerning their educational or career goals, academic requirements, and related personal concerns; provides information on and refers students to University resources that can assist them in meeting their needs or solving their problems; coordinates and processes graduate admissions; coordinates and informs graduate funding opportunities; may develop or oversee projects.     What you need to know
    Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Four years of advising or closely related experience.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of Texas A&M advising programs and systems such as Compass and Howdy
    • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
    • Expert familiarity with Microsoft Office
    • Technology proficient, including working knowledge of Canvas, Zoom, and other web-based tools
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree
    • Earned degree in education or a closely related academic discipline
    • Knowledge of the Graduate School degree plan submission system and ARCS
    • Experience in project management, change management, and developing systems.
    • Knowledge and experience with online graduate programs
    • Teaching experience

    Responsibilities:
    Current Student Advising –Advises doctoral and masters students on degree programs, course planning and selections, and career and academic goals. Serves to facilitate the application and admission of graduate students. Onboards and advises students on degree requirements, completes administrative functions (e.g. degree plan approval, graduation application, Q-drops, add/drops) at various key intervals in their degree program, and helps students achieve academic and professional goals. Additionally, recruits, onboards and advises master’s and doctoral students in partnership with faculty program coordinators. Serves as faculty partner in the recruitment, application, and matriculation process until graduation for all programs as required. Regularly meets with students and offers connections to various resources, internal and external to the university, that might facilitate student goal attainment. Each semester, tracks, evaluates, and follows up with necessary entities on the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) report for all students enrolled within a graduate program.

    Administrative Assistance and Leadership – Develops and maintains student tracking database for graduate students across different programs of emphasis. Routinely updates necessary databases and electronic file storage with pertinent information. Supports the department’s Graduate Faculty Committee Meetings. Coordinates meeting logistics, facilitates Graduate Student Handbook updates, and oversees follow-ups or continuation of tasks from previous meetings. Frequently compiles and disseminates various requests for graduate student data about student recruitment, retention, graduation, job obtainment, and productivity/scholarship.
    Meets regularly with Department and program area leadership to ensure alignment with programmatic goals and expectations. Attendance and active involvement in the department’s Graduate Student Association. Assist with departmental scheduling and oversight of the Curricular Approval Request System (CARS).

    Prospective Student Recruitment and Admissions – Facilitate a streamlined multi-faceted application process for application review of graduate students, and proactively monitors student progress to achieve success. Responds to complex inquiries about programs from prospective students, has knowledge of university and college policies and procedures. Provides guidance and advice to prospective students in areas concerning graduate admissions requirements and deadlines. Serves in partnership with advising colleagues to facilitate the application and admission of assigned students. Assists with other marketing and outreach efforts as needed.

    Event Planning – Serves as lead for program-specific orientation events. Leads planning and delivery of program orientations, various virtual meetings, and three-day Showcase event annually. Offers orientations as required virtually and on-campus to ensure student access. Assists with graduation events with Director. Coordinates with advising team to lead and assist with other recruitment, student appreciation, and graduation events throughout the year. Occasional night and weekend commitments for orientations, retreats, and other events throughout the year. Performs other duties as assigned.
