Job Overview
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.
The UC College of Medicine is seeking an Associate Dean to direct the Center for Continuous Professional Development (CCPD). This position will support the College of Medicine’s tripartite vision to be indispensable through excellence in education, research, and patient care.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and implement the annual budget.
- Coordinate certified Continuing Medical Education (CME) across the College of Medicine, UC Physicians, and UC Health.
- Maintain accreditation with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
- Maintain Portfolio Program accreditation with the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) for Maintenance of Certification (MOC).
- Develop and certify appropriate Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities for University of Cincinnati clinical faculty, community physicians, and other health professional audiences.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure high quality professional development that is compliant with Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) essentials and standards for integrity and independence in accredited continuing education.
- Participate in national and international professional organizations related to Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Enter into joint sponsorship agreements with professional organizations and other entities developing high quality Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities.
- Help develop and submit grant applications to support directly sponsored and jointly sponsored certified Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities.
- Review, negotiate, and sign educational grant contract agreements on behalf of the College of Medicine, as authorized by the Office of General Counsel.
- Direct Center for Continuous Professional Development (CCPD)/Continuing Medical Education (CME) administrative support staff.
- Lead the Center for Continuous Professional Development (CCPD) Advisory Committee (faculty and staff).
- Provide regular reports and updates to the Senior Associate Dean for Educational Affairs related to program statistics, initiatives, and changes to accreditation requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- MD/DO, PhD, EdD or other terminal degree.
- Seven (7) years of relevant work experience. A minimum of three (3) years of higher education administrative experience.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
