Position Description Summary

HFC presents an opportunity for an Accounting Analyst – Billing, Student Accounts.

The Accounting Analyst in Student Accounts is responsible for performing accounting functions related to sponsored billing and EZPay (tuition payment plan) in accordance with the mission of the Students Accounts/Finance department. This individual will display impeccable character as they will have access to the vault and safe. This individual must be discreet in handling sensitive information; be service oriented and be motivated to deliver high levels of customer service.

Core Competencies and Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in business related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, or a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Two years of accounting, billing, reconciliation, or closely related experience required.
  • Passing scores and demonstrated proficiency on testing may be required.
  • Experience in higher education student accounts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality; adherence to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).
  • Ability to act independently; ability to complete job-related tasks without direct supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a professional office environment.
  • Ability to exercise professional judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in teams with all levels of management.

The ideal candidate will have a career that reflects the following qualifications and competencies:

Experience using an integrated student information system such as Colleague by Ellucian (Datatel Colleague) Banner by Ellucian, or PeopleSoft is a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to

  • Back-up for the college’s daily updating and journalizing of the Nelnet payment plan system.
  • Reconciliation, creating and correcting journal entries for the general ledger.
  • Maintain, document, update and create procedures as necessary for billing and Nelnet Payment Plans.
  • Use of sound judgement that exceeds that of routine repetition.
  • Receive information in several formats and analyze it in a short timeframe.
  • Make decisions based on experience and practices to resolve billing concerns.
  • Focus on reaching the goals and objectives of increasing revenue for the College.
  • Make sound, well informed and objective decisions; perceive the impact and implications of decisions; commit to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals; cause change.
  • Additional Duties as assigned.
