Description:

The Educational Associate position is a temporary hourly staff position, from mid- to late-August through commencement. Evening hours are required for this position. This position is eligible for the College’s benefits program. Educational Associates have the opportunity to immerse themselves in their discipline of choice, furthering their professional expertise in specific subject matter.

Purpose of the position (specific to position):

The Educational Associate in CAMS provides basic instruction and enthusiastic support to students, faculty, and staff in the use of video production and video editing equipment. This person is expected to operate and maintain the video equipment checkout system and database, as well as to create a positive environment for users of the video production equipment and video editing facilities in the Weitz Center for Creativity. The Educational Associate in CAMS reports to the Technical Director of Cinema and Media Studies.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain video production equipment check-out system.
  • Create and maintain web sites and web programming.
  • Monitor equipment usage and perform minor repairs to equipment.
  • Assist equipment users in selecting equipment and provide basic instruction in usage of video production equipment.
  • Assist students, faculty, and staff users in the video editing labs in the Weitz.
  • Provide basic instruction in Adobe Premiere.
  • Monitor computer usage and media storage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • Recent Bachelor’s degree from Carleton College
  • Experience with video production methods, equipment, and editing applications.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills.

Physical Demands or Working Environment (specific to position):
Primarily office work with occasional lifting (AV equipment) and occasional standing for extended periods of time, as on video shoots.
