Dean’s Scholarship

Are you a home fee paying student who achieved (or is on track to achieve) a First Class undergraduate degree?  Are you looking to undertake postgraduate study in the Arts & Humanities Faculty or the Social Sciences and Health Faculty in 2024? The Dean’s Scholarship may be for you.

The majority of taught master’s programmes in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities and the Faculty of Social Sciences & Health (except all Law programmes and all PGCE programmes) are eligible for consideration.

Eligibility

To be eligible an applicant:

  • must have a valid offer or place for a full-time postgraduate taught master’s programme in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities or the Faculty of Social Sciences & Health;
  • must be classified as a Home student for tuition fee purposes; and
  • must have achieved a First Class undergraduate degree
  • To receive the Dean’s Scholarship, the recipient must be self-funding their tuition fees by at least 50% of the full tuition fee prior to the application of Dean’s Scholarship, and any other Durham awards.
  • If an applicant has a tuition fees sponsor(s), paying more than 50% of their tuition fee, the Dean’s Scholarship will not be awarded (or will be withdrawn).
  • Student Loans and family contributions are considered to be forms of self funding

How to apply

  1. Apply for a course

    As long as you apply for a postgraduate taught master’s programme in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities or Social Sciences & Health (excluding Law programmes and all PGCE programmes) that begins in September/October 2024 and achieve a First Class undergraduate degree you will be eligible for the scholarship

    Your scholarship will be awarded automatically, there is no application process, however if you believe you are eligible and you have not received notification of an award by September 2024 please contact us providing evidence of your First Class undergraduate degree and details of your postgraduate programme of study.

    If you have already applied or been offered a place on a relevant postgraduate taught master’s programme and are eligible for this scholarship we will contact you to confirm your scholarship.
