SVMP Fellowship for Harvard MBA Students in USA

 Summer Venture in Management (SVMP) Fellowship provides annual awards of $10,000 to MBA students

The Summer Venture in Management (SVMP) Fellowship provides annual awards of $10,000 to MBA students who participated in SVMP. Started in 1982, SVMP is a one-week residential education program for college students designed to increase diversity and opportunity in business education.

SVMP is geared toward students who:

  • Identify as a member of a group that is currently underrepresented in business schools and corporate America (e.g. African American, Latino, Native American, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender);
  • Are the first family member to attend college, or from a family with little business education or experience;
  • Are from a school whose graduates are sometimes underrepresented (e.g. attends a community college as part of a four-year degree or attends a predominantly minority college).

The SVMP Fellowships are made possible by the Loring Family Fellowship Fund at HBS, which was established through the generosity of Ian Loring (MBA 1993) and Isabelle P. Loring. Mr. Loring, who received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1993, had a long career in the private equity industry, most recently serving in leadership roles at Bain Capital and Crosspoint Capital. Mrs. Loring serves on the board of the college preparatory nonprofit, The Steppingstone Foundation, and on the board of the Nantucket Conservation Foundation. Both Ian and Isabelle are graduates of Trinity College.
