Following subject are available to study under this scholarship program. All Subjects Scholarship Benefits: Scholars will be provided funding covering the entire cost of attendance not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, assessed through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the methodology used by the Scholar’s college or university. Cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, room and board, book expenses, transportation, and possibly other personal costs. Eligible Nationalities: Open for US citizens. Eligibility Criteria:
Basic Eligibility: Must be a high school senior. From at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American*. Must be Pell-eligible. Should be a US citizen, national, or permanent resident. Must maintain good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Planning to enroll full-time in a four-year degree program at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university. *For American Indian/Alaska Native, proof of tribal enrollment will be required. Ideal Candidate: Boasts an outstanding academic record in high school (ranking in the top 10% of their graduating class). Displays leadership ability through participation in community service, extracurricular activities, or other endeavors. Complete your myTGS profile: This involves providing information about your background, academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and future goals. Request letters of recommendation: You’ll need two letters of recommendation, one from a teacher or counselor and one from another individual who can speak to your academic ability and leadership potential. There are three essay prompts: Personal Statement: Tell your story and explain why you deserve the Gates Scholarship. (750 words) Leadership Essay: Describe a leadership experience you’ve had and how it impacted you and others.
