Description of primary duties and responsibilities:

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The primary mission of the Treasurer/Bursar office is to support the University’s educational goals by correctly assessing the student’s tuition and fees, collecting them, receipting the University funds, and diligently managing the Federal Perkins Loan Fund. This also encompasses providing an appropriate support system for the Business and Finance Office staff to ensure their progressive development in the use of the Banner, ECSI (Educational Computer Systems Incorporated), TouchNet, WebFocus, and other related computer software systems. This Unit is comprised of three areas: (1) Cashiers’ Office, (2) Student Accounts Receivables and (3) Federal Perkins Loans.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The primary responsibility of this position is to independently handle the administrative duties and student support service requirements of the university’s Federal Perkins Loan area. This position handles all processes and procedures related to the Federal Perkins Loan office. This position provides guidance and counseling to students daily on their rights and responsibilities of receiving a Federal Perkins Loan, their obligations for loan repayment, and past due balances owed to the university. This position is responsible for researching and collecting all past due balances for the Federal Pekins Loan office, Student Accounts, and the Cashier’s Office. The team member in this position must test system processes for accuracy, develop and provide suggested resolutions when needed, and implement recommended solutions. Must be able to interpret federal, state, and university regulations and provide guidance related to direct job duties. Must be able to adjust and accept changes easily.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of general accounting principles and concepts.
  • Experience in handling Higher Ed student processes
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations governing Colleges and Universities.
  • Experience with Banner, TouchNet, ECSI and WebFocus.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Products to include Excel, Word, and Power Point.
